Demonstratives: Digital Graphic Overlays

Digital Graphic Overlays are layered materials designed for presentation on top of or in front of, another image/object. These overlay graphics are usually a set of image layers and often include transparency or opacity.

In the “old days,” graphic overlays would start with a mounted board and overlays would be added as multiple layers of film. These overlays would be printed on thin film transparencies and physically mounted on top of the original image. The presenter would then “flip” through the transparent layers to show additional content or information.

In today’s digital world, the overlay is a set of image layers that may be easily be toggled on/off to show the additional content or information. These overlays can all be built in a multi-layered PDF file using a graphics applications like Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.

Image layers can include arrows and labels; colors and highlighting; and annotations. They can also even accent image portions; present pullouts, or even blur non-crucial details on top of the original image.

The digital graphic overlay now makes it possible to show or hide information at the click of a button. This can be a compelling way to make your image presentation infinitely flexible. ThemeVision can help you develop Digital Graphic Overlays to present your important information most effectively.
